The heavy-duty J1939 cables are used for interfacing with CAN (Controller Area Network) bus signals on a variety of machinery and vehicles. The CAN bus is engineered to permit microcontrollers and devices to openly communicate without the existence of a host computer. Widely adopted by the diesel engine manufacturing industry to help interface with Electronic Control Units (ECU).
Now J1939 connectors are available by green, grey and black color, also with different locking type for assembling.
The J1939 OBD connectors are special for heavy-duty truck or vehicle. SAE J1939 cable can be found in a number of diesel powered applications including diesel trucks, buses, on-road vehicles, off-road vehicles, marine propulsion, power generation, and industrial pumping. This J1939 belongs to HD series, which is following CAN(Controller are network) protocol standard and the pin out is defined by SEA(Society of Automative Engineers) . The HD series including J1708, J1939 etc. HD series is an environmentally silicone rubber sealed, thermoplastic cylindrical connector, which is designed to be a faster, easier, trouble free assembly diagnostic connector in heavy-duty industry like truck, bus, cross-country vehicle,crane and forklift etc. When mated, the contacts are protected from water, dust, lubricating oils, fuel, road salt, grease, mud and other contaminants encountered, It also for IP68 rating, waterproof withstand immersion under 1.2 meter of water for 24 hours.

03 The J1939 to OBD2 Adapter Cable Type1 9 pin to 16 pin can prevent the original shunting line from the original vehicle. It is more reliable and safe to use the extension line. 04 We made the plastic mold of this 9-Pin J1939 female connector by ourselves because we have a full set of machines and equipments and a good team of staff for making plastic molds. We also have injection molding machines which can manufacture these 9-Pin J1939 female connectors according to the mold. The 9-Pin J1939 male receptacle is threaded jamnut mount style common on Paccar trucks. The 9-Pin J1939 female connector is with a locking ring. Rotating the locking ring to the right place after plugging to a 9-Pin J1939 male receptacle assures that the connector won’t come unplugged accidentally.
Product Applications
This adapter is usually used to connect a vehicle GPS Tracker that is meant for an OBD2 vehicle to a commercial vehicle that has the 9-pin J1939 round Deutsch connector. The power lines are appropriately connected to provide power to the GPS tracker.
Today, SAE J1939 is used throughout for heavy-duty commercial vehicles such as trucks, busses and construction equipment. For agricultural machinery ISOBUS is mandatory which is based on J1939, and based on the OBD2 Controller Area Network, CAN, protocol used in all new vehicles.
