ETOP - 20+ years experience in Customizable Solutions for Automotive Wire Harnesses and Cable Assemblies
Product Description
The SAE J1939 standard is the replacement for the older J1708 and J1587 protocols. The J1939 standard defines a huge number of parameters which can be monitored and are referred to by Parameter Group Number or PGN. Below are some examples of our software in use collecting J1939 CAN data on the daily route of a waste collection heavy vehicle.
The real time data available for monitoring and on board diagnostics far exceeds previous standards and replaces outdated systems such as mechanical tachographs. Real time monitoring via telematics and integration with GPS and wireless communication systems allows for complete fleet management and monitoring solutions, all at a very low cost of entry.
We can give you a customized data collection solution for the specific parameters you desire. This OBD cable designed from black J1939 female connector to J1939 green male one and molded molex 43025 connector. All Connectors desgined by overmolding. Also we have our own tooling for these J1939 connectors.

01 We make OBD connector with terminal by ourselves, soldering type and crimping type are both available. Also molded by different type, straight type or right-angle type.
The connector has 9 cavities and comes with 6 crimp pins.
This Y cable is for J1939 systems, which includes one J1939M male type green connector coverted to one J1939P Female (sockets) black connector and one 10pin molded male micro-fit connector. So plug into your vehicle connected to two (pins) bulkhead connectors. This allows you to plug two accessories into one vehicle bulkhead connector.
9 contacts are Y'ed through to the two vehicle side connectors:
Freightliner Cascadia uses the same connector style for their systems which have Dual J1939 busses. Their pinout is as follows:
02 This is an adapter between the J1939 round Deutsch 9-pin connector (test equipment side - mates to the J1939 vehicle) and an OBD2 style 16-pin connector (female vehicle side - mates with an OBD2 test connector). The J1939 +/- data lines are connected to the CAN +/- lines, and the power and ground lines are also connected.
The most common application is to connect a GPS Tracker that is meant for an OBD2 vehicle to a vehicle that has the 9-pin round Deutsch connector. The power lines are appropriately connected to provide power to the tracker.
The SAE J1939 connectors applied in Diagnostic protocols for heavy-duty commercial vehicles. SAE J1939 describes the CAN communication for commercial vehicles and the principles for the exchange of information between ECUs as well as diagnostic data. The aim is to define standard communication mechanisms regardless of the OEM, engine/transmission manufacturer and test system manufacturer.
Today, SAE J1939 is used throughout for heavy-duty commercial vehicles such as trucks, busses and construction equipment. For agricultural machinery ISOBUS is mandatory which is based on J1939, and based on the OBD2 Controller Area Network, CAN, protocol used in all new vehicles.
A few of the myriad uses are: ~diesel powertrain systems ~on and off road gasoline powered vehicles ~liquid natural gas LNG vehicles ~agriculture and forestry machinery ISO 11783 ~intra vehicle networking for trucks and buses ~power generation and industrial pumping ~truck-trailer communication ~recreational vehicles ~marine systems NMEA2000 ~military vehicles MiLCAN
~fleet management systems
