01 ETOP offers a wide variety of IDC connectors and cables. This includes sockets and headers ranging from 8- to 64-positions with tin or gold contact finish. Features include strain reliefs, polarizing keys and eject hooks. The sockets and headers are available in free hanging or panel mount options. IDC D-sub and DIP connectors are also available.
Cable assemblies are available in a wide variety of options and various lengths. Cable options for the assemblies are available in multiple colors, including custom lengths.
02 The IDC Connector is also known as an insulation-displacement contact, or insulation-piercing contact (IPC), It is a connector designed to work with ribbon cables, and uses sharp contacts to clamp onto the wire, piercing the insulation and connecting with the wire in a secure and convenient way. It is an electrical connector designed to be connected to the conductor(s) of an insulated cable by a connection process. This simple connection principle is ideal for multi-stranded ribbon cables, as it allows the connector to make an assured connection across the multiple wires without having to strip the wires. The IDC forces a selectively sharpened blade or blades through the insulation, bypassing the need to strip the cable. Our range of IDC connectors includes plug and sockets in configurations to suit your purposes
03 IDC sockets are most commonly seen in telecom and networking industries. Home use is exclusive to phone jack connections, where small IDC heads are used. The classic image of a large server with hundreds of colored wires connected into different sockets and jacks is how IDC sockets are typically used. This allows network and telecom operators to inject a large number of wires while saving space and making the area neater than if all the wires were connected individually.
IDC wire cable assemblies with high reliability Tiger Eye™ contacts on 1.27 mm and 2.00 mm pitch, as well as dual beam contacts on 2.54 mm pitch. Choice of socket and plug terminations, low profile and slim body designs; ejector, shrouded and elevated headers for mating, and optional locking clips and caps for more rugged applications. 04 The DIN Dip Plug Connector Insulation Displacement termination connectors are designed to quickly and effectively terminate flat cable in a wide variety of applications. The IDC termination style has migrated and been implemented into a wide range of connector styles because of its reliability and ease of use. IDC connections are often used for ribbon cables, and low voltage applications, such as to connect computer drives internally or to connect computer peripheries. They are often cited as preferable due to their having much faster installation speeds than conventional wiring connectors, and also high power, such as for PC, IPC, Automative, Home appliance, Medical, comsumer electronics, gaming equipment.
